High school football: Top performances of Week 2

The second week of high school football action in the Miami Valley featured more 300-yard passers, 200-yard rushers and two-way performers.

Here is a look at the best performances from around the area:

1. Sidney quarterback Ethan New needed to throw only 14 passes and complete six for 299 yards as the Yellow Jackets beat Stebbins 67-55. He also threw four touchdown passes and ran for 110 yards on 18 carries while scoring three TDs on the ground.

(Special mention: Tank Fleming had 143 yards ons three catches and Joelon Lyons had 101 yards on two catches for the Yellow Jackets.)

2. Bellefontaine quarterback Tavien St. Clair completed 15 of 26 passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions as the Chieftains lost at home to Bellbrook 35-14.

3. Stebbins quarterback Devin McCormick threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 71 yards on 17 carries for the Indianas in a loss to Sidney.

4. Greeneview quarterback Alex Horney ran for 226 yards on 18 carries and scored four touchdowns as the Rams beat Waynesville 40-28 on Thursday night. He also threw for 60 yards.

5. Grady Lantz threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns while Bizz Cain had 206 yards on four catches (51.5 average) and three touchdowns as Urbana beat Fort Recovery 43-6

6. Lucas Kunkel ran for 266 yards on 35 carries and three touchdowns for Ross in a 62-35 loss to Mount Healthy.

7. Brody Hess ran for 204 yards on 21 carries as Triad beat Bucyrus 19-12.

8. Walt Adams caught six passes for 115 yards and a touchdown and ran for 62 yards on eight carries for Brookville as the Blue Devils lost 46-20 to Anna.

9. Springboro quarterback Max Miller completed 16 of 24 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-7 win over Edgewood.

10. Tippecanoe quarterback Larkin Thomas threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns as the Red Devils beat Fairborn 41-0.

Cordis Berard ran for 124 yards on 15 carries with a touchdown for Eaton as the Eagles beat Richmond (Ind.) 42-6.

Ulysses Porter ran for 115 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown for Dunbar as the Wolverines lost 56-8 to Big Walnut.

Anthony Valenti ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns and Brodie Hopkins ran for 110 yards (on three carries) and two touchdowns as Valley View beat Milton-Union 49-7.

Springboro receiver Brayden Wilhite had seven catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns.

Eli Goodbar ran for 102 yards and a touchdown as Southeastern lost to Sidney Lehman 47-19. Colt Coffey ran for 156 yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns while Isaiah Christian ran for 107 yards on eight carries and scored a touchdown as Cedarville beat East Clinton 40-6. Christian also had 13 tackles while Coffey had nine for the Indians.

Conley Bogard threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns and Austin Haynes had 130 yards and a touchdown on six catches as Mechanicsburg beat Graham 34-7

Jackson Jones ran for 134 yards on 23 carries with a touchdown as Northeastern beat Riverside 28-13

Hunter Derr had 111 yards on 10 receptions for Miamisburg in a 28-16 loss to Dublin Coffman.

Kyron Dolby logged 4.5 tackles for loss including two sacks for Springfield in a 14-6 loss to Gonzaga (Washington D.C.).

Kenneth Wynn and Jaequan Anderson both had 1.5 sacks for Thurgood Marshall in a 40-0 loss to Beechcraft.

Oluwatobi Bibilari had 2.5 tackles for loss for Meaodwale in a 26-0 win over Cincinnati Woodward

Baryius Allen two tackles for loss and a sack for Belmont in a 46-0 loss to Cincinnati Aiken.

Braylon Newcomb caught seven passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns for the Bellefontaine.

Deaunte White ran for 111 yards on 11 carries and scored three touchdowns as Xenia beat West Carrollton 66-0.
